Oh Olympics

Don't know about you guys, but I've been abnormally obsessed with the Olympics. I don't think I paid attention at all last time.

Don't expect me to be the most productive blogger for a while. I have to weigh blogging about McCain's advertising, the Edwards affair, or some other political scandal -- or watching hot, talented male swimmers.

Swimmers win.

I'm glad the country melds our patriotism together based on the success of an aerodynamic, hairless male swimmer and the successes of overpaid professional basketball players.

As I put on Loree's Facebook posting: America! F**k yeah!

Seriously... I think no one gave a shit last time, and everyone is way into it this time around. I find it all very bizarre.

Loree . . . it makes perfect sense. Last time was the WINTER Olympics. That's no fun - too many clothes. Now we have scantily clad men, beach volleyball and BMX. Much more fun.

Actually, I was referring to the last Summer Olympics. When I was writing my comment, I had totally forgotten that the Winter Olympics existed, which shows how much attention I paid to those events the last time around.

Have you never seen the movie Cool Runnings? Winter Olympics are where it's at!

Aside from the "hot male" phrasing, I'm pretty much with ya' - I didn't think I'd be watching that much, but I'm even flipping around to MSNBC, CNBC and, god help me, USA. I can't keep staying up until midnight, though. This is getting rough.

I long for the days I couldn't stay up until midnight. Sigh.

I didn't realize how cool handball was until I happened across a match the other night. It looks to employ the same principles as basketball, as far as offense and defense goes, but to score, you have to throw the ball into something that resembles a smaller hockey goal with a goalie fronting it.

And Cool Runnings is awesome. When Jamaica came out for the opening ceremonies, that's the first thing I thought of.

I'd love to make a retaliatory comment about some hot female olympians but with all the 12 year old Chinese gymnasts running around, it would just be way too creepy.

I've been slightly obsessed with watching swimming too. The reporter blood in us must like the stories ... and looking at Ryan Lochte isn't bad!

I am coming clean. I have not watched one moment of the Olympics.

Sorry. Don't hate me.
