I should watch that movie tonight. Robert Downey Jr. plays a gay book editor who is hooked on alcohol and pills...basically playing himself, except for the gay part.
I'm not sure why I commented on this...I guess to give my favorite acting memory of Rip Torn.

I can see how an incident like that would really hurt Rip Torn's ascendant acting career at this point in his life.
I wish I would have seen the ad and noticed that it was Rip Torn. I'm sure there were many households with people saying "Hey, is that Rip Torn?"
